This program is part of the
continuing series that focuses on what hospitals need to know about the Center for
Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) standards. This program will cover the lab and
radiology standards. Every hospital that accepts Medicare and Medicaid reimbursement must
be in compliance with these standards and for all patients. Failure to follow these
standards can result in the loss of reimbursement to the hospital for Medicare and
Medicaid patients. The Joint Commission has also started surveying to ensure compliance
with some of the important CMS standards. Problematic areas will also be discussed. The
proposed telemedicine standards will also be discussed.
